Cox's Weimaraners

About are weims and us

We would like to share the wonderful breed of Weimaraners with you. We have many weims that have come from Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin and our home surroundings in Northern Illinois. Our family consist of me, my wife, and our three children. We have had many dogs over the years, but have not found any that we enjoy more than our weims, they all think that they are our children.

At the present time we have three studs and four bitches. All of the weims that we deal with are AKC registered. We have tried to mix up different bloodlines from around the Midwest to keep the best quality offspring that we can produce. We don't guarantee first place show dogs. That's not what we are trying to do. What we do guarantee is a healthy and loving family pet that will become part of your family and / or a quality hunting dog of many years to come.

We raise our weims on a small farm in the country. From the time our weims are born they are surrounded with love from us, our children, and all of our friends and family. I guess you can say they are "Kid Proof". They are also introduced to many other animals on the farm.

About the breed of weimaraniers

Weimaraners are a unique breed of dogs. They were originally breed to be the great hunting dogs of Germany. In today's world, along with their superb hunting skills they have become an outstanding family pet.

Weimaraners are medium-sized dogs weighing roughly 70-75 pounds for females and 80-85 pounds for the males. They have a sleek, smooth, short haired coat, which keeps shedding to almost nothing. This make them one of the few breed that people with allergies can have. There coat only comes in three shades of gray that are recognized by the AKC, gray, silver-gray, and blue(dark gray). There eye colors are also only shades of amber, gray, or blue-gray. There body structure is long and slim, with a well developed and deep chest and a prominent forehead. Of course we can not forget the longer snout and the floppy dumbo style ears, with a 6 inch cropped tail at the other end.

Besides this picture of elegance, speed, stamina, and grace. You can not ask for a better temperament in a breed. Weimaraners are some of the most obedient, friendly, and loyal companion that any family can ask for.

All of this sounds pretty good, but nothing is perfect. Weimaraners need to have a lot of attention and time with there family. They have a tendency of getting board if they are cooped up away from human contact for any major length of time. Just like any relationship they need there quality time with you. If they do not get enough attention they get rambunctious. So if you are a work-a-holic that is gone from home twelve hours a day, this may not be the breed for you.
